Event Details

Kick-off Black History Month at the library! We’ll read a selection of picture books that celebrate everyday diversity and African American authors. Afterwards, children and caregivers will be invited to linger, chat, and read together.

The National African American Read-In is the nation’s first and oldest event dedicated to diversity in literature. It was established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English to make literacy a significant part of Black History Month.

This event is appropriate for all ages. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

No registration necessary.
