Event Details

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO CONCERNS OVER THE SPREAD OF THE COVID 19 CORONAVIRUS.  THE NEXT DANCE IS SCHEDULED FOR MAY 9.  LET’S HOPE THAT SOCIAL DANCING IS ‘SAFE’ BY THEN!

The Western Home String Band hosts a contra dance on Saturday, March 14.  Dancing begins at 7:30 at The Lingonberry, 218 W. Water Street in Decorah.  The band is excited to welcome caller, David Kirchner to lead the dance.

Kirchner regularly calls and plays for contra dances in Minneapolis, MN, and has called in Decorah several times.  His positive attitude and wide array of contra and square dances ensure a fun evening for dancers of all ages.  Each dance will be taught and no previous experience or partner is necessary.

The Western Home String Band features experienced players cranking out high-energy Old-Time, Celtic and original tunes.  You’ll dance to fiddle, mandolin, guitar, bass, banjo, Irish drum and other acoustic instruments playing reels, jigs and a few waltzes.

Admission is $7, with kids 12 and under free.  Please wear comfortable shoes and layered clothing.  No partner is necessary.
