Word Salad: locally sourced, sometimes fresh, on Wednesday, Feb. 19, from 7:00 – 8:30, at the Courtyard and Cellar. This fun evening features readers from around the area sharing their own writing. Poetry, stories, essays, comedy, and “found poetry,” are all welcome at the free event.
At 7:00 the evening will kick off with June Melby, the host and founder of Word Salad, reading some of her own humorous poetry to start the festivities. Then she will invite the open readers to come up to the mike and share their 3 minutes–more if time allows. Anyone interested in reading is asked to show up at 6:45pm to add their name to the open mic list.
The cozy atmosphere of the Courtyard and Cellar has lent itself well to storytelling, with the stage set up near the fireplace. Everyone is welcome to come listen. June is especially encouraging of first-time readers and those who are too shy for the Poetry Slam.
This lively evening is free. At the Courtyard and Cellar, 401 W. Water Street, Decorah. Upcoming Word Salad dates: Wednesdays, Feb. 19, March 18, and April 15.
