Event Details

The Friday Book Group will meet at 2:00 p.m. Fri. Oct. 18th on the 2nd floor of the library to discuss Jeanette Walls’ “Half Broke Horses.”

By age six, Jeannette Walls’ resourceful, no-nonsense grandmother Lily Casey Smith was helping her father break horses. At fifteen, she left home to teach in a frontier town—riding five hundred miles on her pony, alone, to get to her job. Lily survived tornadoes, droughts, floods, and the Great Depression. Jeannette’s mother told her that she was like her grandmother, and in this true-life novel, she channels that kindred spirit.
