NEIPJC is holding its ninth annual meeting, “Local and Global: It’s All Connected”.
The meeting is open to all community members, volunteers and supporters. It is an opportunity to learn about the Center and its role as a community resource and change agent, to hear about exciting future plans, network with others, and become involved in an evolving organization.
Evolution brings opportunity and NEIPJC is charting a course of growth and inclusion, outreach and action. The annual meeting is a place to celebrate and to kick it all off!
A brief business meeting will be followed by a panel of speakers from Luther College: Jim Martin-Schramm, Director of the Center for Sustainable Communities; Cary Hayden Foster, Department Chair and Professor of Political Science; Rachel Brummel, Associate Professor of Environmental Studies and Political Science; and Erik Baack, Professor of Biology and Director of the Environmental Studies program.
Each will speak briefly, from their perspective and work in the world, to the same questions regarding current challenges, hopeful signs and the role of local communities in effecting change. Discussion will follow and refreshments will be provided.
Attendees will also be given the opportunity to collaboratively “mind map” the local connections and causal pathways to issues of concern outside of NE Iowa.
