“Rent” follows a group of struggling artists in Manhattan’s East Village who are living in the shadow of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The individual stories of love, loss and passion intertwine to create a thought-provoking show that promotes the ideal of living life to its fullest.
The musical is directed by Robert Vrtis, Luther assistant professor of theatre. Vrtis joined the Luther faculty in 2013, teaching courses in acting and directing for the theatre. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Longwood University, and master’s and doctoral degrees in theatre from the University of Oregon.
