Registrations/Fees: No registration required. This event is free and open to the public.

Plant the seeds for a successful summer of gardening. This informative Heritage Farm workshop will walk you through the basics of seed selection, seed starting, and transplanting, as well as offer tips for a successful year of gardening.

This will be a hands-on workshop in the lower barn (next to the Lillian Goldman Visitors Center) with Seed Savers Exchange’s greenhouse coordinator, Alan Kissinger. Participants will leave with your own seed starts.

About your instructor: Alan Kissinger is the Greenhouse Coordinator at Seed Savers Exchange. His adventures in horticulture have taken him from his hometown in Ohio to Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York, and ultimately to Iowa. More than his fascination with plants and their inextricable roles in our lives, his work is motivated by sharing with and learning from others. He finds delight in the small mysteries of life including music, the scent of fall, and a perfect cinnamon roll.
