Peace and Justice Center Offers “Workin’ It Out”
Northeast Iowa Peace & Justice Center will be sponsoring “Workin’ It Out”(WIO), a skills training workshop developed by Dr. Steve Parese of George Washington University. The training applies cognitive-behavioral techniques to shake up old patterns of thinking and to resolve conflicts. It will be useful for job seekers; those currently employed and experiencing job-related stress; “team leaders”; and people in supervisory positions wishing to improve communication skills and staff morale.
‘WIO” helps participants understand how personal beliefs may conflict with unspoken rules of the workplace and improve interpersonal skills such as anger management, giving feedback, taking criticism and problem-solving. The skills can also enhance relationships at home, school, and in the community at large.
Facilitator Sally Leibold, certified “Workin’ It Out” instructor, has years of experience in human services and adult education.
The workshop consists of three sessions on Thursdays Oct. 5, 12, 19 from 6-9pm. They will be held at the NE Iowa Peace and Justice Center, 119 Winnebago in Decorah, 52101. The cost is $30 which covers course and materials. Those who attend all 3 sessions will receive certificates of completion. Spaces are limited; send contact information with a check for $30 made out to NEIPJC. firstname.lastname@example.org.
For additional information, contact the Peace and Justice Center at 563-382-5337.
