Winneshiek Idea House
Communities are stronger when diverse local businesses flourish. Winneshiek Idea House is a forum to highlight and support local entrepreneurs and business ideas that contribute to the resilience and sustainability of Winneshiek County.
Save the date! Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Decorah Elks Lodge.
We’re still sorting out the details, but in a nutshell, Winneshiek Idea House will be a meeting of the minds—a place for entrepreneurs, “investors,” and mentors to network and bounce ideas around. To get an idea of what this might look like, watch this video from Totnes, UK, the home of the first local entrepreneur forum:
Everyone’s an “Investor”
The event will culminate with a time for 3–5 featured entrepreneurs to present what they need to get their enterprise off the ground—or take it to the next level. Community members may “invest” loans or gifts of money, use of space/facility, expertise, neighborliness, and more to support their favorite local enterprises.
Think of it as crowdfunding in real time.
At this time, we’re seeking entrepreneurs who want to be featured at the first ever Winneshiek Idea House. We expect entrepreneurs to prepare a five-minute, five-slide presentation to tell attendees about their project, how it will strengthen the local economy, and what they need from their community to be successful.
If your are selected, we’ll guide you through the process and provide mentoring and reviews as you prepare your presentation. This is a community effort!
