Status: Full-Time (primarily daytime shifts, including some weekends).


The Fresh Assistant Manager works in conjunction with the Fresh Manager to direct and manage tasks for the Fresh department (produce, meat and cheese). The Fresh Assistant Manager position has the responsibility of learning and performing enhanced duties in the Fresh department such as buying, stocking, department maintenance, training, and other duties – all as instructed by the Fresh Manager and/or General Manager. This position requires the ability to problem solve and work independently. All OCC staff are responsible to provide welcoming, friendly, helpful, and non-judgmental customer service to all shoppers and co-workers in accordance with our organizational goals and programs.


Customer Service

– Maintains familiarity with all areas of the store to best assist customers and staff.
– Upholds the Code of Conduct
– Always use S.E.T. (Smile, Engage and Thank You) in all customer interactions.
– Become familiar with the Co-op mission, Ends, and policies to answer customer questions. Refer unresolved questions or problems to appropriate staff.

Leadership Responsibilities

– Models supportive and participative leadership; promotes empowerment.
– Adheres to the Code of Conduct.
– Assists with the growth of the Co-op by suggesting improvements to processes and SOP’s, and always learning.
– Attend meetings and participate in discussion, research, and decision-making on behalf of the overall store.
– Utilize Paychex conversations to document staff training, coaching, and policy violations.
– Recognizes co-workers when they do exceptional work by issuing shout-outs.
– Assist in the training of department staff on regular duties, safety, customer service, store policies and procedures, and Owner relations.
