37th Annual Decorah Area Community Thanksgiving Dinner

Well once again the season for feast and fellowship is upon us! St. Benedict Catholic and the First United Methodist Churches will again be hosting this year’s Decorah Area Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 28th. The meal includes turkey, dressing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberries, dinner roll, and of course, pie! You are also warmly encouraged to bring your favorite family dish to share with everyone.

You can place your orders for home deliveries between the 12th and 26th of November by calling the First United Methodist Church (FUMC) at (563)-382-3835. On Thanksgiving Day we will start home deliveries at 11 am and the sit down meal will start at Noon.

Volunteers will be needed on Wednesday, November 27th, at 10:00 am to peel potatoes at FUMC, and at Noon to debone turkeys at Luther College’s kitchen, located next to the cafeteria in the Student Union. We also need volunteers on Thanksgiving Day starting at 8:00 am to assist with setting up the dining room; preparing and serving the food; working the delivery line; delivering meals; and clean-up at St. Ben’s.

The community response to our pie needs has always been fantastic and we are once again asking for your assistance. Pies may be dropped off in the kitchen at St. Ben’s, 307 West Main Street, on November 27th, starting at 9:00 am. Please leave them on the kitchen counter.
