Audio/Video Operator

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is a small, friendly, progressive congregation that is within easy walking distance from Luther College. We are intentional about welcoming lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people. We advocate for and accompany immigrants and are engaging in antiracism work.

Our worship services begin at 9:30 on Sunday mornings. We have an in-house audio system and record our services and stream them on YouTube. We are seeking a person to operate the audio/video (AV) for these services.

Position Summary: The AV operator is present from 9 AM to 11 AM Sunday mornings at Good Shepherd. They are responsible for operating the sound in the Sanctuary and running and maintaining the visual and audio for the YouTube stream. This position also necessitates the ability to troubleshoot in real time any issues that arise with the sound and video.

Responsibilities:

·      Test audio system prior to Worship and reset if necessary.

·      Check wireless microphones prior to Worship and change batteries as needed.

·      Manage the YouTube stream by turning equipment on and off, operating the camera angles via remote, and adjusting audio as needed during the service.

·      Monitor and adjust audio levels within the Sanctuary and on the stream during the service.

·      Follow along with a script of the service to anticipate which microphones need to be active and where the camera will need to be pointed.

·      Gain a confident understanding of the equipment allowing the ability to troubleshoot when issues arise.

Minimum qualifications:

·      Be familiar with audio and video presentation.

·      Have comfort and familiarity with computer and technical systems.

·      Have experience troubleshooting technical problems.

·      Be a quick learner and be adaptable to changing situations.

·      Be confident working without direct supervision.

Preferred qualifications:

·      Familiarity with the flow of Christian worship services.

·      1+ year of experience running sound and/or video at live events.

·      Experience with YouTube Studio.

Employment Information

The Audio/Visual Operator reports to­­­ the Good Shepherd Office & Building Manager and is supervised by the Pastor. Training would be completed upon hire. Payment is $50 per service.
