The Grant Writer develops well-researched, compelling grant proposals to secure funding from foundations, corporate entities, and government agencies to support the overall mission and strategic priorities of the museum. As a key member of the Donor Relations Team, this position will work collaboratively with the Vice President of Donor Relations and museum staff to identify organizational funding priorities and to develop and implement a long-range development plan that compliments the goals and funding requirements of the museum. The Grant Writer will have a keen focus on growing organizational revenue through grant support and through identifying, cultivating, and stewarding relationships with grantors at foundations, government agencies, and corporations. This position is full-time and requires a willingness to work flexible hours, as some evening and weekend hours may be required.
Reports to: Vice President of Donor Relations
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, non-profit management, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Three to five years of experience and a proven track record in grant writing, fundraising, or a related field; previous state and federal grant writing and award experience is preferred
- Excellent research, writing, and editing skills
- Thorough understanding of grant funding policies and procedures and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Experience in working with museums and/or non-profit organizations
- Experience using a fundraising database and tracking system (Raiser’s Edge experience preferred)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops, writes, and tracks grant proposals, letters of inquiry and reports.
- Collaborates with team members to gather information and support for proposals
- Creates and maintains a grant calendar along with common grant attachments to track and manage the timely submission of letters of intent, funding proposals, grant applications, follow-up materials, and reports
- Drafts written recognition and acknowledgment materials and supports other ongoing stewardship efforts.
- Develops and maintains relationship with funders and stakeholders
Pay: $24 – $27 per hour
