National Library Week at Decorah Public Library

April 7-13, 2019 is National Library Week, an annual celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries and librarians play in transforming lives and communities. The theme of this year’s National Library Week is “Libraries = Strong Communities.” Libraries are at the heart of their cities, towns, schools and campuses. They have public spaces where people of all backgrounds can come together and connect. This theme certainly rings true here in Decorah.

In April, Decorah Public Library has 23 programs scheduled for all ages (and this doesn’t even include Tech Help!) and we’re partnering with 11 different organizations and businesses (most of them local) including (in order of appearance): Luther College, the Oneota Questers, RUBAIYAT, Iowa Legal Aid, Friends of Decorah Public Library, the Winneshiek Energy District, Green Iowa AmeriCorps, members of the Upper Iowa Training Club, Reefuel, Winneshiek County Conservation, and the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium!

The Decorah Public Library is celebrating National Library Week at DPL with a wide variety of programs for people of all ages and fine amnesty all week long. Anyone with overdue library materials may take advantage of fine amnesty: simply bring overdue items to the front desk of the library, let a staff member know that they are overdue, and all fines for those items will be removed.
