Decorah Chorale presents “Glorious Day”

The Decorah Chorale will present a spring concert Sunday, May 5 at 3:00 p.m. in the Decorah High School Auditorium.

The concert “Glorious Day” explores the beauty, wonder, mystery and thrill of the world around us. Each piece in the program invites one to embrace nature’s splendor and the human spirit.

Audience members will be treated to a diverse repertoire, including Paulus’ “Afternoon on a Hill,” Barnett’s rousing setting of “McKay,” the whimsical “Pure Imagination” from Willy Wonka, and Runestad’s “Come to the Woods” that serves as a reminder of the restorative power of the natural world. The second half of the concert begins with pieces by Massenet and Brahms, along with “By Night,” a captivating piece by Iowa composer Hagenberg. Complemented by additional works from Boykin, Kirchner, and Garrett, the concert will conclude with an arrangement of the timeless anthem, “What a Wonderful World.”

As a gesture of community support, a free-will offering will be gratefully accepted, contributing to the ongoing mission of the Decorah Chorale.

Comprised of talented singing musicians from Decorah and surrounding Iowa communities, the Decorah Chorale is dedicated to fostering musical excellence and community. Under the guidance of conductor Jason Rausch and collaborative pianist Nicholas Shaneyfelt, the ensemble shares a passion for creating memorable musical experiences.

Guest instrumentalists for this concert are Sarah Kowitz, Simon Kutz, Alex McGohan and Aidan Nalean-Carlson.

The group rehearses Sunday evenings beginning in late August and continuing through April, with several weeks off around the holidays. Email decorahchoraledirector@gmail.com or visit www.decorahchorale.org for more information.
