Maintenance Mechanic/Plumber

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform all types of building maintenance and repair that is generated from the facilities services work order system. Most work will be related to plumbing, heating and air conditioning systems

• Interpret drawings, schematics and blue prints to arrive at a solution for a service problem
• Prepare lists of materials needed to complete projects
• Perform plumbing, heating and air conditioning service as needed to accommodate major and minor renovation and remodel projects that Luther
• College undertakes
• Provide dependable service on the Luther College steam distribution system
• Provide assistance to the Boiler Operators in case of needed repairs to the heating plant boiler system
• Be available to assist other facilities services departments such as grounds, movers, electrical, carpenter, etc. as needed
• Manage material inventory and supplies
• Maintain cleanliness of work area and surrounding areas at all times including maintenance work vehicle
• Assist with snow removal
• Be available for scheduled after hours work as well as emergency situations that may arise at any time
• Work in a manner to insure personal safety and safety towards the campus Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
• Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:

• High School diploma required
• Computer skills for accessing the college’s web-based work order system, building automation system and e-mail are required
• Recognition that maintenance work can happen in a wide variety of Must perform careful planning and cleanup of work
• Four years of formal working experience in installation and repair in the following areas: plumbing, heating, steam and air conditioning
• Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends of the college.
