Staff Collaborative Pianist

The Staff Collaborative Pianist provides piano accompaniment for a wide variety of student performances, workshops, and rehearsals. This is a 9 month (.75 FTE) position that will start September 1, 2024.


  • studio seminars (vocal and instrumental)
  • rehearsals with students preparing to perform in studio seminars
  • activities that support Music Department recruitment (music scholarship auditions, Dorian Vocal, Orchestra, Band, and Keyboard festivals)
  • choral ensembles (rehearsals and performances)
  • concerto competition, opera workshop auditions
  • opera workshop rehearsals & performances
  • other performing duties as assigned

Optional supplemental freelance work (compensated separately) includes:

    • degree recitals
    • applied music juries
    • vocal and instrumental lessons (individual instruction).


  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s of Music in piano or collaborative piano preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Demonstrated record of success as a collaborative pianist with substantial and significant vocal and instrumental repertoire.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent sight-reading skills and the ability to learn new repertoire quickly.
    • Solid musical and technical skills.
    • Familiarity with German, French, Italian language/diction preferred.
    • Effective communication and organization, and project management skills.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Manage calendars and navigate complex scheduling requests.
    • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends of the college.
