TRIO Program Director

The Director of TRIO Achievement Program is responsible for the administration and implementation of the grant program to ensure federal objectives and program goals are attained as defined by the U.S. Department of Education and the approved grant. The director will develop strategies to effectively manage programs that support recruitment retention, graduation, and engagement for low-income, first-generation college students and students with disabilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage program services in accordance with federal guidelines.
- Serve as liaison with the U.S. Department of
- Education to ensure compliance with federal regulations. Lead efforts to recruit, select, identify, and monitor student participation in the program from matriculation to graduation.
- Select, hire, and supervise program staff.
- Provide coaching, training, mentoring, and performance management for staff.
- Facilitate the development and implementation of all aspects of the grant towards continuous improvement, including
administering and managing the budget, in accordance with Luther policy and in compliance with the regulations of the Department of Education. - Maintaining consistent and accurate records in accordance with federal guidelines.
- Accurately completing and submitting the required
- Annual Performance Report (APR) to the Department of Education.
- Retrieving and assessing data to ensure program objectives are being met.
- Preparing reports for the campus community.
- Securing funding through the federal grant
- Competition every five years for continued operation of the program.
- Work collaboratively with the Dean of Student Success on retention initiatives.
- Foster alliances and ollaborative initiatives with campus partners to ensure student success.
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Master’s degree in higher education administration, counseling, student personnel, learning support, social work, psychology, or related field.
Experience:
- At least five years of experience with TRiO programs or similar projects supporting the success of targeted populations.
- Experience in grant management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in budget planning and management.
- Experience in grant proposal writing.
- Experience in participant tracking and reporting methods.
- Experience using Advocate, Assist, Banner,
- Colleague, or other student information systems.
Experience working with people that come from diverse backgrounds. - Experience in supporting college student populations that are historically underrepresented.
- Personal experience in overcoming barriers similar to those of students served by TRIO.
- Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends of the college.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Occasional evening and/or weekend work. May travel to destinations in and outside of Iowa.
