Financial Controller

The Controller will lead Vesterheim’s accounting operations, including supervising a small team and ensuring accurate records, compliance, and reporting.  Specifically, the Controller will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely financial statements compliant with all relevant regulations, overseeing regulatory filings, financial disclosures, and audits, and maintaining the integrity and transparency of the company’s financial information.  This is a full-time, on-site position.

Reports to: Director of Administration

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or closely related field
• Seven or more years of progressive accounting experience
• Skilled knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Ability to keep privileged information confidential
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills
• Highly collaborative people skills with staff, board, and outside partners

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
• Three or more years of nonprofit accounting experience
• Experience with grant reporting and compliance
• Demonstrated skill with Sage Intact or other accounting software
• Demonstrated skill with Microsoft Office
• Demonstrated skill with Shopify and Blackbaud
