Rowley Sports Complex

Progress Report
This exciting project is spearheaded by the City of Decorah and Decorah Parks and Recreation to expand community opportunities for sports, recreation, programs and events.
The project (expanded scope) includes the construction of four 280’ ball fields with dug outs and scoreboards, eight pickleball courts, lighting for two fields all eight pickleball courts, Concession/Bathroom and Storage building, playground, 104-stall gravel parking lot with paved ADA accessible stalls and a convenient drop off area, donor plaza and facility corridor, bike station area, 3 acre water infiltration/detention basin and 5 acre prairie with a mowed trail extension. The existing dog park will remain in the current location.
The project site is located along Old Stage Road and adjacent to the Freeport Trail and is designed to meet the needs of a wide range of users and provide facilities that will serve the community for generations.
A fundraising team was formed in the spring of 2025 and met for the first time on May 5. The team is comprised of dedicated community leaders who are actively involved in fundraising for this project and generating support.
Decorah Bank and Trust “lead off” with a $250,000 pledge and naming rights for Field #1. Since then, the project has received financial support from businesses, individuals, and organizations, as well as local and statewide grants, resulting in over $1.5 million in funds raised.
Consider teaming up on this project and help us close the fundraising gap!

Spring Off Road Trail Etiquette & Information

Spring weather has arrived and we are all ready to get outside and enjoy the trails, but unfortunately many off road trails are not ready for bike or foot traffic just yet. Each spring the off road trails go through freeze thaw cycles and walking or riding trails too early in the season can cause significant immediate as well as long term damage. This can also occur after rain, which results in muddy trails.

Electronics, Appliances, and Scrap Metal

Did you know that we accept a wide variety of electronics and appliances at Winneshiek County Recycling?

Old microwaves, toasters, laptops, printers, washing machines, dryers, bicycles, lawn mowers, and more all contain valuable metals that can be recovered and recycled instead of buried in the landfill.

Why does it matter?
Metal is one of the most recyclable materials we have, and it can be recycled over and over again without losing quality. Keeping it out of the landfill conserves resources, reduces mining, and protects our environment.

Some items require a small fee to cover proper handling and recycling costs. If you’re unsure about an item or the fee, give us a call. We’re happy to help. Before you toss it, check with us first!

During his hospitalization, they deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way.
